Tutor FAQ

How do I get new students?

You’ll be sent email notification when you receive a new online tuition request. You can then login to view and reply to the request and arrange to start lessons. However, your requests don’t have to come through EvoTuition. The tuition room is yours to use with any student you wish. When you arrange lessons outside of EvoTuition, just ask your student to create a free EvoTuition account, so they can access your room and start lessons.

How do I arrange a lesson?

Send your student a message to arrange lessons. Lessons can take place any day or time and can last any duration. If you need to change the day or time of a pre-arranged lesson, simply send your student a message. You have complete flexibility.

How do I access and use my tuition room?

On your profile page, click "Open tuition room". The room will then load automatically. If you have a lesson arranged, your student will automatically be granted access to your room once you're inside.

How do I get paid?

You decide your own hourly rate. Students pay for lessons in advance, and 15 minutes after a lesson ends payment is shown on your EvoTuition account. These earnings then automatically transfer to your personal bank account the following week, minus a 12% fee. Watch the payment video on the right of this page for more information.

How do I give a free trial lesson?

Tutors who offer a free trial lesson are much more successful at gaining new students. A free trial can last any duration you choose (e.g. 30 minutes) and allows students to ask questions and experience the online tuition room. Simply click "Award free trial" above the students message. You can then arrange a date and time directly with the student.

Troubleshooting FAQ

Checking your system

You need a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam (tablets and phones are not supported). For lessons, you need to use either the Google Chrome or FireFox web browser. You also need a good broadband internet connection. If possible, use an ethernet cable rather then WiFi, to give a much more stable connection.

Improving audio and video

  • Move closer to your router for a stronger WiFi signal (or use an ethernet cable).
  • Ask others not to use your internet connection during a lesson.

If you are still having problems, call Customer Services (0207 118 0801) or send a message from your profile page by clicking "Request help".
